Microsoft maintained their failure of odd revision of Windows operating system by presenting a well written and universal experience product in the form of Windows 10.

Who is eligible for free Windows 10 download?
As I have mentioned earlier you are only eligible for free upgrade if you have Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1. Wait don’t get excited too early. You should be using a retail copy of Windows 7 Professional, Ultimate, Windows 8/8.1, Windows 8/8.1 Pro. You will not receive a free upgrade notification if you are running Windows RT or Windows 7 Enterprise edition.
You must get your internet connection working and start running Windows update. Microsoft will deliver the good news about your free upgrade eligibility once you download and install all Windows updates. This is how Windows update app looks like:
Once you are all set with all updates, you will notice a new Windows logo in the taskbar breaking the good news about getting your free upgrade copy. This is how it looks like:
You have earned Windows 10 but owning it on your computer is still few steps away and there may be few bottlenecks if your hardware does not meet Windows 10 requirements.
Hardware requirement for upgrade:
Processor: 1 GHz or faster processor or SOC
RAM: 1 GB for 32-bit and 2 GB for 64-bit
Disk Space: 16 GB for 32-bit and 20 GB for 64-bit OS
Graphics Card: DirectX 9 or later with WDDM 1.0 driver

You can get started with the installation of Windows 10 upgrade which means your applications and data would be carried forward to new Windows 10.
