The wait is over. We were expecting a change with Google since they announced Alphabet. Today, Google officially changed their Google logo and opted for more flatter design font on Material design lines. As per industry experts its a Sans Serif typeface but this font is Google’s own creation.
You can see the new avatar of Google on their homepage which came live tonight. The change does not end with this. They have also changed the 4 dot loading animation and compact Google logo with colourful G.
This is what Google shared via their twitter handle:

First it was very unconventional of them to introduce Alphabet and put Google under it and now this change. This is a major change they have made to their logo design in their 16 years experience.
Google explained this logo is good for slow internet connections since its only 305 bytes when compared to the previous logo which was approximately 14,000 bytes. Few updates are expected across all Google products implementing this new design.
You can see the new design on Google design blog and read more about the idea and behind the scene action of this logo creation. You can share you thoughts about this bold move in the comments section.
